Building projects often require compliance with Building Regulations fire safety, in accordance with Approved Document B and other associated documents. Fire safety will usually form an integral part of conformity in gaining the appropriate approvals and Completion Certificate.

Where the Authority Having Jurisdiction is Building Control, whether Local Authority Building Control, NHBC, or an otherwise approved inspectorate, Adima will assist on behalf of the client.

Regarding fire safety, Building Regulations are commonly met by ‘Passive Fire Protection’ e.g. travel distances, fire doors and fire retardant materials.

Fire sprinklers are a form of ‘Active Fire Protection’ as they actively suppress a fire, and can be used to decrease some of the passive requirements.  By looking at the combined effect of all the fire safety measures in a property, a much safer building can be designed for less cost.
