There are numerous different types of HMOs (houses of multiple occupancy) within the UK. Typically, these will be in the form of shared flats and houses, bedsits, hostels, halls of residence for students or nurses, boarding houses, hotels or bed & breakfasts with permanent residents, and supported accommodation for homeless people.
Landlords converting properties into HMOs need to be aware of planning & building regulations, environmental health and fire regulations, which all must be complied with.
The latter will sometimes require that fire protection to the building is enhanced by way of residential fire sprinklers. These will often entail somewhat retrofit works being carried out in a potentially sensitive environment.
Our Fitters are experienced and appropriately sensitive to working within various types of HMOs, helping the owner to achieve compliance, and the residents to live in a safer place.
